  • 2003/2004 Presentation Evening

Brittany Johnson was awarded the Champion of Champions Award for the first time at our Annual Presentation Evening last night. This year was also the first time a female swimmer has won the award which is presented to the best all round swimmer, taking into account performances both at club and representative meets.
Brittany won both her Age and Open Championships, placed second in the Female Graded Pointscore, won medals at the Cumberland Sprint Meet and represented the club at the Cumberland Championships and is a deserved winner.

Jorden Almeida, was awarded the Michael Rossek Trophy for the highest placed Junior Boy in the Graded Races Pointscore, a huge improvement for Jorden after being the lowest placed swimmer last season. Amber Johnson received the Ronald Exley Trophy for the highest placed Junior Girl.

The Jack Smart Encouragement Award was presented to Lachlan Stewart, who steadily improved over the season progressing from 25m to 50m in all strokes.

Team Johnston continued their winning ways in the Relay Competition for the 6th year straight but this year had to share the honours with The Reel Big Fish. The hotly contested competition came down to the last race after which the two teams were level on 90 points.

This year also saw the presentation of awards for our first ever Winter Season Competition. The 6 week competition was well contested with David Wang and Brittany Johnson winning the male and female competitions. Three swimmers finished equal second in the male pointscore and two of our senior swimmers finishing second and third in the female competition.
The night was very enjoyable and those people that stayed after the presentation had a good time joining in the fun and entertainment provided by Meaghan Legge, Rachel Johnston, Sarah Johnston and Belinda Wood.

Thank you to all the people who helped organise the presentation and who helped throughout the season.

Thank you especially to the Trophy Committee:
    Patricia Johnston
    Margaret Edwards
    Pauline Legge
for their work selecting and setting up the trophies.

You can find the season results in the Club Races section and the full list of other awards presented on the night in the Presentation section.

    Winter Season Kicks Off

Today was an historic day at Merrylands Swimming Centre as the first ever winter season kicked off.

With the Competition and Training pools now heated, the new winter season began in 27° water and brilliant sunshine.

The inaugural winter season features three new events not run during the summer season. The first of these events, the Mystery Medley, was run for the first time today and proved very popular with the swimmers. The other new events that will be run are the 800m and 1500m Freestyle, which will be run as part of the Graded Pointscore.

The new season will run until the pool closes on May 16th.

    Swimming Survey

The club is conducting a survey to help the club committee with the running of the club.
By completing the survey you also have the chance to win a prize.
Please complete the survey as honestly as possible.

The survey results will also be used to determine if the club will run a short Winter Season until the pool closes in mid-May.

One survey respondent will be selected at random from all surveys submitted. The selected respondent will win a prize. Surveys must be completed by Saturday, 20 March, 2004.
