State Open Results

Four great swims by our team at the NSW State Open Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on the weekend.

Reece Tomkinson finished the weekend with 2 new personal best times. Reece swam new PBs in the 100m Backstroke (1:03.35) and 200m Backstroke (2:23.36), while his 50m Backstroke was only 2/10ths outside his best time.

Alison Johnston also swam well, with a season best time of 28.76 in the 50m Freestyle - her fastest time since 2016.

Well done to both Reece and Alison on their swims.

NSW State Open Championships

Reece Tomkinson and Alison Johnston will represent Merrylands at the NSW State Open Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre which start today.

Reece is competing in 3 events at the meet: the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke, while Alison will compete in the 50m Freestyle.

Congratulations to Reece and Alison on qualifying for the championships, and we wish them the best of luck.

Ready.Set.Race

Merrylands Swimming Club will be hosting a Ready.Set.Race meet and skills session to help children get ready for their School Swimming Carnivals.

The session, for children aged 7 to 12 years, will be held on Saturday, 27th January 2018 at Merrylands Swimming Centre and is a great morning for kids looking to have fun and get some racing practice for their school swimming carnival.

Children must be able to swim at least 25m Freestyle and 25m Backstroke and/or 25m Breaststroke to participate.

Ready.Set.Race is primarily for non-members, so make sure you invite your friends. Members should enter club races as usual. Members who do not usually attend training on a Saturday morning are welcome to register, but should enter club races as usual either online or via entry cards.

 The morning consists of:

  • up to 3 Individual races
  • Relay races
  • 30 minute skills session with our qualified coaches
  • prizes and giveaways

Merrylands Masters Meet

The 2018 Merrylands Masters Meet will be held at Merrylands Swimming Centre on Saturday, 10th February, 2018.

This meet is open to anyone, 18yrs & Over on the closing date - you don't need to be a member of Masters Swimming or a club to attend.

Entries close on Friday, 2nd February, 2018 at 12 noon. This is our club's carnival so all club members are expected to attend.

Speedo Sprint Series Entries

Looking for a fun, friendly and fast paced activity this summer?

Come and take part in the 2018 Speedo Sprint Series.

The Speedo Sprint Series caters for girls and boys aged between 8-13 years in 50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly events and is a great way to have fun and learn new skills in a friendly environment.

Due to it's timing, the meet, along with the Merrylands SwimFest, also provides good practice for School Swimming Carnivals. All club members aged from 8 to 13 are encouraged to enter.

This year's meet will be held on Sunday, 11th February, 2018 at Blacktown Aquatic Centre.

If you have not attended a meet before and would like some more information or help on entering, just ask one of the Club Committee Members.

State Championship Results

Merrylands' swimmers achieved 4 new personal best times at the various NSW State Championships over the last 2 weeks.

Reece Tomkinson swam 2 new personal best times at the State Age 13-18yrs Championships, with PBs in the 50m Freestyle (26.25) and 100m Freestyle (58.04).

Dyana Crabb competed at the State Age 10&U-12yrs Championships and also swam 2 new PBs. Dyana swam a new PB in the 100m Breaststroke (1:28.48) and in the 200m Breaststroke (3:11.91).

Congratulations to Reece and Dyana on their new PBs.

NSW State Age Championships

Two members will compete at the NSW State Age Championships over the next week.

Dyana Crabb will swim at the 10&U-12yrs Championships, while Reece Tomkinson will swim in the 13-18yrs Championships.

The 10&U-12yrs Championships will be held on Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th December. Dyana will be competing in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly on Tuesday, and the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke on Wednesday.

The 13-18yrs Championships run from Friday 15th to Wednesday 20th December. Reece is swimming in 4 events, and will contest the 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 200m Backstroke.

Good luck to Dyana and Reece at the championships and congratulations to them on qualifying.

NSW State Open Water Championships

Sophia Vicic will represent Merrylands at the NSW State Open Water Championships which will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre on December 9-10, 2017.

Sophia will be swimming in the 5km event on Sunday.

Christmas/New Year Club Races & Training

Our last club races and training session for 2017 will be held on Saturday, 23rd December.

Club Races start at 7am as usual. All Squads will start at 9am on this date, and finish at 10:15am.

Training will resume on Tuesday, 2nd January, with Club Races resuming on Saturday, 6th January, 2018.

Our Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, 23rd December in conjunction with the Club Races from 7am. All squad members are encouraged to attend for the club races and novelty events. We would love to see you there. Enter online here.

Metropolitan Results

Some good results at the NSW Metropolitan Championships on the weekend as our team swam 3 new personal best times.

Following just 1 week after the Metro South West Championships, our team performed well with all swimmers achieving either a PB or season best time.

Reece Tomkinson swam 2 new personal best times - in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, and Dyana Crabb swam a new PB in the 100m Butterfly.

Alison Johnston swam a season best time in the 100m Freestyle, while Steven Nguyen did the same in the 50m Breaststroke.

Overall, some good results as Dyana, Reece and Alison continue their preparation for the State Championships over the next 2 months.
