NSW State Age Championships

Alison Johnston will represent Merrylands at the 2018/2019 NSW Senior State Age Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. The championships will be held from Friday 14th to Wednesday 19th December, 2018.

Alison will swim in the 17yrs & Over 50m Freestyle on Saturday.

Congratulations to Alison for qualifying and we wish her the best of luck at the meet.

Dive In Movies

Try a different film experience this January with the Dive-in Cinema.

Merrylands Swimming Centre will be transformed on Saturday, 19th January, 2019 into a floating cinema lounge with the screening of Disney's Moana. Plenty of inflatables and pool noodles available for guests, or bring your own. There will also be a dry area for guests who don't want to get too wet.

This event is part of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club and the Merrylands Swimming Centre.The event is being run by the Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club and proudly funded by Cumberland Council’s Community Grants Program.

Metropolitan Results

Alison Johnston swam a season best time at the NSW Senior Metropolitan Championships on the weekend.

Alison swam 29.25 to finish in 62nd place out of 102 swimmers.

Well done Alison.

Parramatta Inter-Club Cup Results

Merrylands fell just 15 points short of winning the 2018 Parramatta Inter-Club Cup on the weekend.

Parramatta City finished on top of the point score with 1022 points. Merrylands was 2nd on 1008, with McCredie Park 3rd on 202.

Despite not taking home the cup, our team of 43 did a fantastic job with a lot of personal best and season best times swum.

Thank you to the parents who assisted by timekeeping or managing the team.

Metro South West Results

Merrylands' team finished the Metro South West Senior Championships with 1 medal, 8 finalists and 4 new personal best times.

Reece Tomkinson finished with a Bronze medal in the 17yrs & Over 50m Backstroke and was also a finalist in the Open 100m Backstroke and 17yrs & Over 50m Freestyle.

Alison Johnston was a finalist 5 events, finishing in the top 10 in the 17yrs & Over 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and Open 100m Freestyle. Alison also swam 2 new personal best times, with PBs in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke.

Steven Nguyen was a finalist in the 17yrs & Over 50m Freestyle, while Michael Evans swam new personal best times in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke.

Parramatta Inter-Club Cup

The Team list and Program for this year's Parramatta Inter-Club Cup are now available in the Parramatta Inter-Club Cup section of our website.

A team of 57 swimmers has been selected to represent the club at the meet which will be held at Granville Swimming Centre on Saturday, 24th November.

This year will be the 6th running of the cup. Parramatta City has won the cup 3 times, with Merrylands having won it twice. Can we even the score?

The cost is $10 per swimmer, which includes event entries, pool entry for swimmers and spectators and a sausage sandwich after the meet. Payment is to be completed online by Wednesday, 21st November.

Metro South West Senior Championships

Merrylands will be represented by 4 swimmers at the Metro South West Senior Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre this weekend.

Due to changes in the Swimming NSW calendar for this season, Area, Metropolitan and State Championships have been split into separate streams, with the Senior Championships held in the first half of the summer, and Junior Championships in the second half of the summer.

Our team of 4 will compete in 18 individual events over the 2 day meet. The club will be represented by:

Reece Tomkinson

50th Anniversary

An action packed morning of activities was held on Saturday, 10th November as current and former members celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club and the opening of Merrylands Swimming Centre.

The morning kicked off with the usual club races, and it was great to see a number of former members return to catch up with old friends and even participate in a few races.

The races were followed by a BBQ breakfast, novelty events, cake cutting, a giant pool inflatable and a special visit from the Junior Dolphins mascot, Yampu!

Thanks to everyone who came along to help celebrate. There will be other celebratory activities held throughout the season, with details available on the 50th Anniversary page.

100m Backstroke Championships Postponed

This weekend's Backstroke Championships have been postponed.

The old starting blocks have been removed, and the new ones won't be installed in time.

Swimmers should still enter the championships, as entries will be carried over to the new date once it has been determined. Other events will go ahead as planned.

All swimmers may now enter 3 graded races for this weekend. If you have only entered 2 events, you can enter a 3rd via online entries.
