Technical Official Lectures & Exams

For those members interested in obtaining Technical Official Qualifications, lectures will be held at the McCredie Park Club Room at Guildford Swimming Centre on Tuesday, 8th July, 2003.

Lectures and Examinations will be held for the following credentials:

  • Timekeeper, including District Credential for 14-16 years of age.

  • Starter

  • Finish Judge

  • Check Starter / Marshal


  • The lectures and the examinations take about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

    The exams for Timekeeper, Finish Judge and Check Starter are mostly multiple-choice questions with some writing involved in about 1 - 5 questions. The Starter paper is all writing.

  • Cumberland Development Squads Announced

    Congratulations to the following 5 swimmers from our club who have been selected in the 2003 Cumberland Development Squads:

    Novice Squad

    Details of the various squads activities are as follows:
    • The Novice Squad will attend a session at Smithfield on 19th July, 2003.

    • The Achiever Squad will attend the Life Adventure Camp for Team building exercises from 22nd to 24th August, 2003.

    • The Target Squad will attend a camp at Narrabeen Fitness Camp from 31st October to 2nd November, 2003.

    • The Challenge Squad will attend the Nunawading Swim Meet in Victoria from 29th to 31st August, 2003.
    Congratulations to the 5 swimmers selected. Swimmers in the squads will be receiving letters over the next couple of weeks.

  • Metropolitan Short Course Entries

    Entries for the 2003 NSW Metropolitan Short Course Championships close on Monday, 16th June, 2003.

    The entries are to be on Multi-Entry Cards, which will be available at training in the afternoons on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th June, 2003.

    To compete at these championships you must have achieved the required qualifying time at an approved meet as detailed on the Qualifying Time Information page.

    The Multi-Entry cards must be completely filled out including date and place that times were achieved. Entries must also include your registration number.

    No late entries will be accepted.

  • Day at the Rosehill Races

    We will be having a day out at the Rosehill Races on Sunday, 29th June, 2003.

    All you need to bring is a picnic lunch. We will meet you on the grass area in front on the Paddock Grand Stand at about 12 noon.

    No need to let us know if you wish to come, just turn up. Remember you will need to pay normal entry fee.

    Telstra Swimming Grand Prix Series

    The Telstra Swimming Grand Prix Series returns to the Sydney Aquatic Centre on June 21st-22nd, 2003.

    The second leg of the series will feature the entire Australian Swimming Team in their final hit out before the World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Finalists from the 2003 Australian Championships have also been invited to attend.

    Entry to each session is by a Gold Coin Donation. To take advantage of this great offer, simply be at the Sydney Aquatic Centre during the times listed below.

    Session 1: Saturday, 21st June, 2003
    10:00am to 12:00pm
     
    Session 2: Saturday, 21st June, 2003
    5:00pm to 7:00pm
     
    Session 3: Sunday, 22nd June, 2003
    10:00am to 12:00pm

    So if you’re looking for some great value weekend entertainment, get down to the Sydney Aquatic Centre to cheer on the Aussies.

  • 2002/2003 Presentation Evening

    At the our Annual Presentation Evening last night, Jordan Burden, for the first time, was awarded the Michael Rossek Trophy for the highest placed Junior Boy in the Graded Races Pointscore. Elise Cause received the Ronald Exley Trophy for the highest placed Junior Girl.

    The Jack Smart Encouragement Award was presented to Andrew Stanford, who steadily improved over the season.

    Team Johnston continued their winning ways in the Relay Competition, taking home the trophy for the 5th year running in a very hotly contested competition.

    The night was very enjoyable and those people that stayed after the presentation had a good time joining in the fun and entertainment provided by Meaghan Legge, Rachel Johnston, Sarah Johnston and Belinda Wood.

    Thank you to all the people who helped organise the presentation and who helped throughout the season.

    The club is conducting a survey to help the club committee with the running of the club.
