Metropolitan Junior Championships

Merrylands will be represented by a team of 4 swimmers at the NSW Metropolitan Junior Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on 2-3 March, 2019.

All 4 swimmers are first-time qualifiers for the Championships, with the hard work they have put in at training over the past 12 months paying off in spades.

Christmas/New Year Club Races & Training

Our last club races and training session for 2018 will be held on Saturday, 22nd December.

Club Races start at 7am as usual, and will include Novelty Events after the regular races.

Training will resume on Wednesday, 2nd January, with Club Races resuming on Saturday, 5th January, 2019.

Our Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, 22nd December in conjunction with the Club Races from 7am. All squad members are encouraged to attend for the club races and novelty events. We would love to see you there. Enter online here.

Get 50% off Squad Fees

Bring a friend to training who enrols and pays their fees before 8th October, 2018 and you could receive 50% off your November Squad Fees.

Conditions:

  1. The friend must be a new swimmer who has not previously been a member of the squad.
  2. The friend must enrol in the squad, pay their October Squad Fees and pay their Club Membership prior to 8th October, 2018.
  3. The referring swimmer must have enrolled in the squad for October 2018, paid their fees by the due date, paid their club membership and not have a current outstanding balance as at 8th October, 2018.
  4. For a referring family, discounts will be applied to the family member with the lowest fees first.
  5. A single discount is available for each referring swimmer.
  6. Merrylands Swimming Squad reserves the right to end the offer prior to 8th October, 2018.
  7. To claim your discount, you must contact the squad via email prior to 15th October, 2018 with the details of the swimmer you have referred.

Training Returns to Merrylands

Training will return to Merrylands Swimming Centre on Tuesday, 2nd October, 2018.

All swimmers will need to complete enrolment forms for the new season. These forms must be completed online on the Squad Enrolment page.
When completing the enrolment form, you will need to login to the website. If you have forgotten your login details, or have not logged in before, you can retrieve them here.
Swimmers who complete their enrolment forms and club membership before Friday, 28th September* will receive $5 credit per swimmer, that can be used on purchases from the Squad Shop.

There has been changes to some of the squad fees for this summer (the last changes were in 2016) and there has been some changes to the Program Information and Conditions.

The Training Schedules are on the Training Schedule page. A minimum of 4 swimmers must enrol in any given session for it to go ahead. Some times may change based on the enrolments received.

All squad members must also register as members of Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club for the 2018/2019 swimming season.

Please remember when paying via EFT to use the Reference provided during the enrolment process.

* The $5 credit will only apply to swimmers who do not have a current outstanding balance.

Australian Masters Coach of the Year

Peter Johnston was announced as the 2017 Masters Swimming Australia Coach of the Year Award at the Masters Swimming Australia Presentation Dinner in Perth last night.

The award follows the announcement of Peter as the 2017 Masters Swimming NSW Coach of the Year at the State Championships in March.

Peter has been recognised for his work in the club's various adult programs, ranging from those learning to swim, through to those swimming for fitness or competing at levels right up to FINA World Masters Championships.

This is the second time that Peter has been recognised with the Masters Swimming Australia Coach of the Year Award, having won it in 2013 as well.

NSW Masters Coach of the Year

Peter Johnston was announced as the 2017 Masters Swimming NSW Coach of the Year Award at the Masters Swimming NSW Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Sunday, 18th March.

Peter was recognised for his achievements as Coach of the Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club during 2017, and for his contribution to, and promotion of Masters Swimming.

This is the 2nd time Peter has won this award, having first won it in 2013. He is one of only two coaches in NSW to win this award twice.

Peter is also a finalist for the Masters Swimming Australia Coach of the Year, having also been awarded this honour in 2013. The winner of this award will be announced at the Masters National Championships in April 2018.

It is fantastic recognition of the work, time and dedication Peter puts into the coaching program for our club and swimmers.
