What a February!

Well now February is over we can catch our breath as we enter the last 4 weeks of the season. What a month February was with two major swim meets being held at Merrylands.

The Merrylands SwimFest was an outstanding success, with our club’s 30 swimmers achieving 63 PB’s and winning 3 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals. A fantastic result, so congratulations to each one of you and to your coaches.

Out of the pool we again saw the family culture of getting in and doing any job required our club is renowned for. A great big thank you to everyone who helped organise the meet and on the day setting up, jobs during the meet and packing up. The weather held off and we finished earlier than the timeline, so a great effort in ensuring the flow of the meet throughout the afternoon. The Merrylands swimming family is a great example of community spirit and we have received some great feedback from other clubs about this.

I would also like to extend a big thank you to our sponsors for the meet, Club Merrylands, Accucom Systems Integration, Nikkis Pizza and Merrylands Swimming Squad.

MSW 5 – 8 Years Development Meet - today

Good luck to our 6 swimmers who are competing in the MSW 5 – 8 Years Development Meet today. May the whale be with Joseph Assi, Abraham El-Chami, Pare Nader, Lisa Shrestha, Unish Shrestha & Daniel Vicic. Thank you to Margaret Edwards, Kylee Murray, Leanne & Emily Tovkach who have volunteered for our hosting duties at the meet.

Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club – 50th Anniversary

The Lolly Guessing Competition is well underway, with lots of guesses so far. I wonder if anyone has yet guessed the exact number? 50c for a guess and you can have as many guesses as you like. See Margaret to have your guess.

Club Photo – Saturday 10th March, 2018

We will be taking our club photo on Saturday 10th March, 2018 (next Saturday) after club races so please wear/bring your full club uniform on the day. We would like to see everyone join in the photo on the day.

Whales Picnic – Sunday 11th March, 2018

The Whales Picnic is being held at Blaxland Riverside Park, Jamieson Street, Sydney Olympic Park (off Holker Street, Silverwater) on Sunday 11th March, 2018 (11.00am – 4.30pm).

Trophy Return & Annual Presentation

Please return any perpetual trophy’s you have from last season on a Saturday morning to the club room (you have 3 more weeks left to do this).

We will be deciding on a date for our Annual Presentation evening (generally held in late May) at the next Committee meeting and we will communicate this as soon as we have the date and venue confirmed.

Winter Squad Training

We have applied to council for lane space during the winter months for squad training and once we have this confirmed the coach will determine squad training days and session times.

Race Starting Time and Entries

With championships underway and running until the end of the season it is important that we start on time at 7.00am. So to make sure you don’t miss your race, arrive before 7.00am and be ready when called at marshalling.

Any questions about races should be emailed to race.secretary@merrylandsasc.asn.au
