Swimmers set to compete at Revesby Invitational Meet

Merrylands is represented at the 2025 Revesby Workers Inter Club Invitational Meet, held today at Max Parker Aquatic Centre.

A team of 13 swimmers from Merrylands is entered in 52 events, racing against competitors from clubs across the region.

As the Spring Carnival continues...

Thank you to all swimmers and helpers who have come to our Spring Racing Carnival series over the last 3 weeks.  First day of the Summer Season commences on Saturday 4th October. Swims from 4th October onwards count towards graded point scores and club championships qualifiers.

A reminder the Swimming Centre opens at 7.00am (during September) for setup and races commence at 7.15am, with a finish within 90 minutes.

Last week setup was delayed due to multiple factors, so a big thank you to all that lent a flipper to help out.

Registration for the 2025/2026 season is officially open, and you can find step-by-step instructions on the “How to Join” page. Think of it as your treasure map to smooth sailing this summer.

Here’s the catch (pun intended): swimmers can dive in and enter our Spring Racing Carnival before renewing their 2025/2026 memberships. But after 1st October, you’ll need to have completed your renewal to keep making waves with us!

Training Messages

Reminder there is no training on Monday 6th October for the Labour Day Public Holiday. Training is on as normal for all other days in the holidays. If you are away, please lodge your absences in the Parent Portal.

Making a splash at the Cumberland Inter-Club Cup!

It’s our turn to host the Cumberland Inter-Club Cup, happening on Saturday 15th November at Merrylands Swimming Centre. This is no small fish — it’s one of the highlights of the season, and we’re ready to whale-come everyone for an afternoon of fantastic racing.

Our Social Committee has been working like busy barnacles to final whale all the details and make sure the day goes swimmingly.

We’ll also be rolling out our set of touch pads for the meet, so here’s your early reminder: this event is a WHOLE POD effort. We’ll need all fins on deck, helping on the day. It will be truly appreciated! 🐋👏

Walk to Defeat MND Fundraising - Whale done, team!

Our fundraising target of $5,000 has been well and truly harpooned — we’ve now splashed past the finish line with $5,197! 🎉

Welcome to our Spring Racing Carnival

Welcome back to Merrylands Swimming Centre and club races. We are excited to again hold a series of Spring Races, with a three week carnival before we commence the Summer season on Saturday 4th October.

The Spring Racing Carnival is an entrée to the Summer season and is provided to allow swimmers the opportunity to gain some race experience and fitness, whilst also trying some different events.

The Swimming Centre opens at 7.00am for setup and we are looking to commence races at 7.15am, with a finish within 90 minutes.

Our club has been invited by Revesby Workers to participate in an Interclub meet on Saturday 27th September.

The meet will be held at Max Parker Aquatic Centre, Marco Avenue, Revesby. Entries close on Thursday 18th September (or earlier if entry limit is reached). For more information visit our club website.

Metro South West LC Championships

The Metro South West LC Area Championships will be held on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th October at SOPAC.

Entries will close mid October. We will provide more information once the program of events is published.

Cumberland Inter-Club Cup

It is our turn to again host the Cumberland Inter-Club Cup to be held on Saturday 15th November at Merrylands Swimming Centre.

We have again been successful in obtaining a grant from Cumberland City Council for this meet and we will be providing catering, including food, drinks, coffee cart and the most popular ice cream van, YAY😊

Training resumes at Merrylands on 8th September

The wait is over! Training is back at Merrylands Swimming Centre from Monday, 8th September.

All swimmers must renew their club membership before 30th September. If you haven't been training, you must complete a new enrolment. The steps to follow are detailed below.

Instructions

  1. Complete your Club Membership renewal.
  2. Complete your Squad Enrolment (only if you aren't currently training or want to change your sessions)
  3. Purchase any new equipment you need
  4. Download a copy of your Membership Card

Changes this season

  • New Swim School Management System for managing enrolments, bookings and payments
  • A return to a monthly flat rate fee for all squad levels, regardless of the number of sessions attended, with payment in advance via direct debit.
  • Update to the Conditions.

What isn't changing

  • Swimmers must have renewed their club membership for the 2025/2026 season before 1st October.
  • Swimmers will continue to be booked into sessions, and must be cancelled through the booking system if you can't attend.
  • Pool Entry must be paid on entry to the centre.
  • You may be required to show your Club Membership Card when paying pool entry or topping up a Pool Entry Card.

Learn to Swim: We are still finalising details of our Learn to Swim program. Learn to Swim participants should register as a Club Swimmer or above if they want to participate in Club Races.

We are again providing Free Membership for swimmers 8yrs & Under, who regularly swim in our club races.

All parents and adults who regularly attend the Club Races on Saturday mornings are requested to join the club as Non-Swimming Members (unless they want to swim).
There are a number of benefits to being a registered member of the club. Members are entitled to vote at Annual General and Special General meetings, vote for our Club Captains and can be recognised for their service to the club through awards such as the Lions Club Award, Life Membership or Service Excellence Awards.

Swimmers 18yrs & Over have the option of additionally registering as a Masters Competitor. This allows them to participate in Masters Swimming activities including Masters Only competitions on Saturday Mornings.

World Aquatics Masters Championships Results

Merrylands has finished the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore with 3 new personal best times and 3 new season best times.

Kylee Murray had an excellent meet, with new personal best times in the 200m, 400m and 800m Freestyle. Kylee's best placing was 15th in the 800m Freestyle.

Alison Johnston's best result was 15th in the 100m Butterfly, with season best times in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle.

Well done to both Kylee and Alison on their results!

World Aquatics Masters Championships - Day 6

Our team's final day of the World Aquatics Masters Championships saw Kylee Murray swimming the 400m Freestyle.

Kylee finished 23rd overall, but after a long week of swimming, she was unable to match her PB time set in the 800m Freestyle on Day 1. However, her time was still her 4th fastest ever.

Well done to Kylee on her swim.
