Day at the Rosehill Races

We will be having a day out at the Rosehill Races on Sunday, 29th June, 2003.

All you need to bring is a picnic lunch. We will meet you on the grass area in front on the Paddock Grand Stand at about 12 noon.

No need to let us know if you wish to come, just turn up. Remember you will need to pay normal entry fee.

Telstra Swimming Grand Prix Series

The Telstra Swimming Grand Prix Series returns to the Sydney Aquatic Centre on June 21st-22nd, 2003.

The second leg of the series will feature the entire Australian Swimming Team in their final hit out before the World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Finalists from the 2003 Australian Championships have also been invited to attend.

Entry to each session is by a Gold Coin Donation. To take advantage of this great offer, simply be at the Sydney Aquatic Centre during the times listed below.

Session 1: Saturday, 21st June, 2003
10:00am to 12:00pm
 
Session 2: Saturday, 21st June, 2003
5:00pm to 7:00pm
 
Session 3: Sunday, 22nd June, 2003
10:00am to 12:00pm

So if you’re looking for some great value weekend entertainment, get down to the Sydney Aquatic Centre to cheer on the Aussies.

    Credentials and Name Badges will be presented to the successful candidates at the Cumberland District Short Course Championships at the Sydney Aquatic Centre on 9-10 August, 2003.

  • 2002/2003 Presentation Evening

    At the our Annual Presentation Evening last night, Jordan Burden, for the first time, was awarded the Michael Rossek Trophy for the highest placed Junior Boy in the Graded Races Pointscore. Elise Cause received the Ronald Exley Trophy for the highest placed Junior Girl.

    The Jack Smart Encouragement Award was presented to Andrew Stanford, who steadily improved over the season.

    Team Johnston continued their winning ways in the Relay Competition, taking home the trophy for the 5th year running in a very hotly contested competition.

    The night was very enjoyable and those people that stayed after the presentation had a good time joining in the fun and entertainment provided by Meaghan Legge, Rachel Johnston, Sarah Johnston and Belinda Wood.

    Thank you to all the people who helped organise the presentation and who helped throughout the season.

    By completing the survey, you will also help the Cumberland Swimming Association administer swimming in our district. Questions that Cumberland would like answered are followed by a © symbol. Please complete the survey as honestly as possible.

    One survey respondent will be selected at random from all surveys submitted. The selected respondent will win a prize. Surveys must be completed by Saturday, 29 March, 2003.

  • Speedo Sprint Series Finals Results

    Merrylands had two swimmers competing at today’s Speedo Sprint Series Finals at the Sydney Aquatic Centre.

    The club was represented by Jordan Burden in the 10yrs 50m Freestyle and David Wang in the 9yrs 50m Breaststroke.

    Jordan, who came second in the 50m Freestyle at the Cumberland District Heats, went on to qualify for the Grand Final in a new personal best time of 32.17. Swimming in lane 6 in the Grand Final, he eventually finished 5th overall.

    David also qualified for the Grand Final after swimming a new personal best time of 46.75 in the Preliminaries of the 50m Breaststroke. He eventually finished 4th overall in the Grand Final, just missing out on third place.

    Congratulations to both Jordan and David on their great swims.

    Merrylands had a very successful meet at the Cumberland District Championships winning 3 medals.

    David Wang won silver in the 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:41.54, taking two seconds off his PB.
    Troy Tomkinson broke his PB in the 100m Butterfly to take home the bronze medal in a time of 1:02.33 while Peter Johnston took the bronze in the 50m Backstroke.

    Peter was also runner-up in the Senior Mens Age Championship.

      9th – 9yrs & Under 100m Backstroke
      8th – 9yrs & Under 100m Butterfly
