Speedo Sprint Series Heats Results

Merrylands will have 2 swimmers competing at the NSW Speedo Sprint Series Finals after some impressive swims at today’s Cumberland District Heats.

David Wang continued his dominance of the 50m Breaststroke, winning his age group for the second year running. David won the event by over 2.5 seconds swimming a personal best time of 48.30 on the way.

Jordan Burden will be our second representative at the finals. Jordan finished second in the 10yrs 50m Freestyle to qualify for his first Sprint Series Finals. His time of 33.09 was just 0.02 seconds outside his personal best.

Congratulations to all swimmers who broke their times and good luck to David and Jordan at the finals.
The Speedo Sprint Series Finals will be held at the Sydney Aquatic Centre on Sunday, 9th March, 2003. The full results of the heats are now available.

    Entries for the 2002-2003 Cumberland District Open & Age Championships are due in with our Race Secretary by Saturday, 8th February, 2003. The entries are to be on Multi-Entry Cards, which will be available on Saturday.

    To compete at these championships you must have achieved the required qualifying time. The Entry Times should also be related to the course in which the Meet is to be conducted with the appropriate constant added to the time.

    Your Multi-Entry cards must be completely filled out including date and place that times were achieved. Entries must also include your registration number.

    This year's Holroyd Family Festival Swimming Carnival will be held on Sunday, 23rd February, 2003 at the Merrylands Swimming Centre.

    This meet is run by our club and is one of our major fund raisers for the year. All club members are asked to attend both as swimmers and helpers on the day.

    The entries for the carnival close on Saturday, 8th February, 2003 and are to be on Single Entry cards.

    The 2003 Australian Swimming Championships will be held at the Sydney Aquatic Centre from Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th March, 2003.

    This year’s Championships double as the 2003 World Championship Selection Trials, guaranteeing some exciting racing. Australian Swimming is offering the following special offer to Swimming Clubs.

    Australian Swimming is providing an opportunity for clubs to pre-purchase discounted finals tickets for the best seats at this exciting event. The finals commence at 6:30pm each evening with tickets available at the following prices:

    Adults - $20.00 per ticket (RRP $25.00)
    Concession - $10.00 per ticket (RRP $12.50)
    (Concession includes children under 16 years, pensioner and full-time students)

    This offer is only available through the club and only a limited number of tickets are available on a first come first serve basis.

    The club will be selling tickets to the first Finals Session, held on Saturday, 22nd March, 2003.

    Entries for the 2003 NSW State Championships close on Saturday, 14th December, 2002. The entries are to be on Multi-Entry Cards.

    The Entry Times should be related to the course in which the Meet is to be conducted with the appropriate constant added or subtracted from the time.

    Your Multi-Entry cards must be completely filled out including date and place (name of the meet) that times were achieved. Entries must also include your registration number.

    Only accredited coaches will have access to the Pool Deck at the meet. Parents are reminded that they are not permitted on the Pool Deck or in the Marshalling Area at any time.

    David Wang achieved Merrylands’ best result at the NSW Metropolitan Championships held at the Sydney Aquatic Centre on the weekend.

    David placed 9th in the 9 & Under 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:43.88, breaking his personal best time in the process.

    Jordan Burden broke two of his PB’s in the 10yrs 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke while Peter Johnston equalled his PB in the Open 50m Breaststroke.
