State Age 10-12yrs Results

Timothy Tunks swam a new personal best time in the 50m Freestyle at the NSW State Age 10-12yrs Championships on Saturday.

Tim competed in three events at the Championships, also swimming in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke.

In his first event, the 200m Breaststroke which he had only raced twice before the championships, Tim finished in 17th place, just outside his entry time. Less than half an hour later he was back in the water for the 50m Freestyle. Having originally qualified in 61st place, Tim was in lane 4 in the first heat and took over 1 second off his personal best time to win his heat in 31.97, eventually finishing 34th over all. Tim's final event of the championships was the 100m Breaststroke where he finished in 24th place.

Congratulations to Tim on his results.

  • James Pye, 1927-2010

It is with great sadness that we advise that one of our Life Members, Jim Pye, passed away on Friday night, aged 83.

Jim was member of our club since it was formed in 1968, and was awarded Life Membership in the 1980s. Apart from Jim's extensive service to swimming at all levels, he will probably be best remembered in swimming circles for always having a pocket full of minties, ready to hand one to a passing swimmer or parent.

Jim’s funeral will be held on Thursday 4th November 2010, at West Chapel (Pinegrove Cemetery) at 1:30pm. A remembrance of Jim's life and achievements will be held at the Fox Hills Golf Club, directly following the ceremony.

All details will be published in Tuesday edition of the Daily Telegraph.

Any messages of condolence or flowers can be sent to:

    Mrs. Glad Pye
    11 Lowana Avenue
    Merrylands
    NSW 2160

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pye family at this difficult time, and he will be greatly missed.

Details of Jim's involvement with swimming over the years can be found in his Life Member Profile.
