New Breaststroke Records

Congratulations to Lisa Shrestha and Brendan Kirkpatrick who both set new records in the Breaststroke Championships yesterday.

Lisa set a new record in the 9yrs 50m Breaststroke in a new personal best time of 52.11. Lisa took 0.29 seconds off the record, held by Natalie Tims, which was set all the way back in the 1972/73 season.

In the Open 200m Breaststroke, Brendan took 0.39 seconds off the record set by Todd Jenkin in 2005, to finish in 2:54.59.

Speedo Sprint Heats

Merrylands will be sending its biggest team to the Speedo Sprint Heats. Merrylands will have 19 swimmers which is the most since Speedo Sprint was rebranded from Restricted Age Series in 2003. The meet will be held at Blacktown Aquatic Centre on the 1st February, 2020.

New 50m Butterfly Records

Congratulations to Lisa Shrestha and Matthew Vicic who both set new records in the 50m Butterfly Championships yesterday.

Matthew took 0.08 off the 12yrs 50m Butterfly record held by Etiuate Veamatahau since 2002 to finish in 35.41.

Lisa took a massive 12 seconds off her best time to break the record in the 9yrs 50m Butterfly with a swim of 46.99. Lisa took 1.38 seconds off the record, held by Amber Johnson, which had stood since 2003.

Speedo Sprint Series Entries

Looking for a fun, friendly and fast paced activity this summer?

Come and take part in the 2020 Speedo Sprint Series.

The Speedo Sprint Series caters for girls and boys aged between 8-13 years in 50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly events and is a great way to have fun and learn new skills in a friendly environment.

Due to it's timing, the meet, along with the Merrylands SwimFest, also provides good practice for School Swimming Carnivals. All club members aged from 8 to 13 are encouraged to enter.

This year's meet will be held on Saturday, 1st February, 2020 at Blacktown Aquatic Centre.

If you have not attended a meet before and would like some more information or help on entering, just ask one of the Club Committee Members.

NSW State Age Championships

Merrylands will be represented by 2 swimmers at the NSW State Age Championships which will be held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from Friday, 13th to Wednesday 18th December, 2019.

Training Cancelled - Tuesday, 10th December, 2019

Merrylands Swimming Centre is closed and Swimming Training for all squads for Tuesday, 10th December has been cancelled due to the poor air quality caused by bushfires.

Swimmers who usually attend training for one of these sessions may choose to attend an alternate session, subject to space.

If you would like to attend an alternate session, please email squad@merrylandsasc.asn.au to let us know which session you would like to attend and we will confirm availability.
