  • Speedo Sprint Series Heat Results

Merrylands' team of 12 swimmers swam extremely well at the Speedo Sprint Series Heats. with new personal best times swum in 28 out of 34 events.

For 8 of the swimmers this was their first Speedo Sprint Series and for many, their first meet at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Despite this, they managed to overcome their nerves and put into practice what they have been learning at training and club over the past months to take huge chunks of time off their PBs.

Isaac Adamson, Jessica Adamson, Emily Allen, Emily Evans, Anthony Farrugia, Haley Sharp, Carl Sorensen and Taysha Wilson all swam particularly well - swimming new personal best times in all their events.

Fady Farid achieved the club's best results at the meet, finishing 8th in the 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly.

Congratulations to all our swimmers on their performances.

A big thank you to Vicki Baker and Peta Tunks, our Team Managers for the day, and Peter Johnston and Steven Nguyen, the coaches of the team.

    1500m Championship Postponed

The Club Committee has decided to postpone Friday Night's 1500m Championship until Friday, 11th February.

The Competition Committee recommended the championship and other events be postponed due to the high water temperature at the centre over the past week, caused in part by the recent extremely hot weather.

All entries will be carried over to Friday, 11th February.

The Metro South West Area Speedo Sprint Series Heats will be held this Sunday at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Warm-Up is at 8:00am, however due to time constraints, the events will start at 8:30am.

Merrylands will be sending a team of 12 swimmers to the meet to compete in 34 individual events, our largest team since 2006. For 8 of our team members, this will be their first Speedo Sprint Series. Our team consists of:
