  • Restricted Age Series

As revealed in July there will be a number of changes to the 2002 Restricted Age Series.

As mentioned here the number of swimmers excluded from the series has been increased. It was reported that the swimmers excluded were to be the top 10 from Metropolitan, Country and State Championships. However this has now been limited to the 10 finalists from the State Age and Open Series held in January 2002.

Cumberland District will continue to subsidize the entry fee for the Cumberland District Restricted Age Series Heats. This will make the entry fee $2.00 per event. Entries close on Saturday, 9th February, 2002.

The finals of the Restricted Age Series will be held at Auburn Pool on Sunday, 17th March, 2002.

Congratulations to Glad Pye who was a recipient of this year’s Premier’s Award for Active Citizenship. The award was presented at a lunch celebrating the efforts of local volunteers on Thursday, 29th November.

Glad has volunteered at our club since it was formed in 1968 and also gives her time at District and State level. She says she enjoys volunteering because it gives her a chance to give to the community.

“I can’t believe I won this award,” she said. “It’s wonderful to be acknowledged for something you love doing.”

“When I volunteered at the Paralympics I had to escort athletes to the winners’ podium and it was amazing to be a part of that. I love what I do.”

November was a big month for Glad, not only did she receive the Premiers Award but she was also named NSW Swimming Volunteer of the Month.

Glad will be in action again this weekend at the NSW Metropolitan Championships being held at the Sydney Aquatic Centre. We would like to thank her and her husband Jim for all the work they put in at Club.
